| Salvation We know, by testament of the Bible, that our salvation is the work of God, not us (John 6:29). The Bible warns us that we cannot earn our salvation by anything that we do (i.e., baptism, good works, taking communion, praying, attending church, giving money or confession to clergy). None of these things will earn favor with God (Isaiah 64:6; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 3:28, Romans 4:4; Galatians 2:21). Our salvation is simply a gift given to us by the grace of God, through faith in the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ as payment for our sins, the just for the unjust and He bore our sins in His own body on the tree (Hebrews 10:10-14; I Corinthians 15:3; Isaiah 53:6-7; Romans 5:8-11; II Corinthians 5:21; I Peter 3:18). The Bible further confirms that once someone has trusted in Jesus Christ as the payment for their sin, no man can pluck them out of the Father's hand (John 10:28-29; Romans 8:38-29). Because salvation is not earned by works, salvation cannot be lost by works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Back to Statement of Belief page. |
