| John 8:32 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." |
Key #4: You must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour and receive His wonderful gift of eternal life as your only hope for Heaven. John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Acts 4:12 "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." John 5:24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." The main problem that people have is understanding the word "believe." To believe means to trust, to depend on, to rely on the Lord Jesus Christ. Let me illustrate. Suppose that you and a friend were going to fly to Miami, Florida. When you arrive at the airport, you ask him, "Friend, do you believe that is a jet plane?" "Yes," he replies. "Do you believe it will fly?" "Why, sure, I believe it." "Do you believe the pilot knows what he is doing?" "Yes, I do." "Do you believe that plane is going to Miami, Florida?" "Yes, I believe it." Believing all the facts about the plane will not get us to Miami. We must not only believe that it is a plane, that it will fly, and that it is going to Miami, but we must completely trust ourselves to that plane and place our physical lives in the hands of the pilot. We must completely trust the pilot to get us to Miami. Now, that is what it means to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. You must not only believe that you are a sinner, that you owe a sin debt, and that Jesus Christ died on the cross in your place to pay the debt that you owe as a sinner, but there must also come a time when you completely trust Jesus Christ as your Saviour. You must put your eternal life in His hands and trust Him to get you to Heaven when you die. Romans 6:23b "...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." The Philippian jailor asked Paul and Silas in Acts 16:30-31, "What must I do to be saved?" And they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." My friend, have you understood what you have read in this tract? The Lord Jesus Christ, who is God in the flesh, came into this world to die in your place and pay a debt that He did not owe. His was a substitutionary death for you. You must believe that this includes you--that He did it for you, on your behalf. Now, rest yourself completely in Him, believe on Him to save you as He has promised, and rely wholly on Him alone to do the job of saving you from eternal damnation. Believing means to place your faith totally in Him--plus nothing and minus nothing--to save you from hell forever, forgive you of your sins, and give you the gift of eternal life. Most importantly, when you completely trust Him to get you to heaven, it will be forever settled, once and for all. II Corinthians 6:2 "...behold, now is the day of salvation." My friend, why not right now believe on the Lord Jesus Christ with all your heart as your personal Lord and Saviour and pray this simple prayer. Dear Lord Jesus, I realize that I am a sinner, and that I deserve to pay my own sin debt. I believe You became my substitute on the cross, paying the sin debt I owe, and that Your shed blood, death, burial, and bodily resurrection from the grave were for me. I do so now believe in You with all my heart and place my faith totally in You alone as my Lord and Saviour. I now trust You to forgive me of all my sins and cleanse me with Your precious blood. Please save me from hell and give me the wonderful gift of eternal life. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for saving me and making me Your child. Now help me to live for You. Amen.
