Key #3: You must believe that Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, lovingly paid your sin debt through his sacrificial death and the shedding of His precious blood at Calvary on His cross. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth (proved) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." God allowed his Son, Jesus Christ, to suffer and die in our place to pay the price of death that we owe. II Corinthians 5:21 "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." We do not need to do anything to earn this salvation. We must simply receive the salvation that Jesus paid for with His own shed blood. Hebrews 9:22 "...without shedding of blood is no remission (forgiveness of sin)." Jesus Christ literally died for your sins and for mine because man, from the very beginning of time when he sinned, was separated from God. The only thing that could reconcile God and man was the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says in I Timothy 2:5, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." My friend, you must simply believe on Him as the One Who bore your sin, Who died in your place, Who was buried, and Whom God resurrected. I Corinthians 15:3-4 "...how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures." His resurrection assures that the believer can claim everlasting life when Jesus Christ is received as his personal Saviour. (Revelation 1:18) John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God..."
