| John 8:32 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." |
Key #2: You must believe what God's Word says about the consequences of your sin if you remain in your present condition and reject His Son, Jesus Christ. (John 8:24) Romans 6:23a "For the wages (payment) of sin is death..." This death is described in the Bible as the second death or the lake of fire--eternal separation from God. Revelation 21:8 "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." When a lost person dies without Jesus Christ, his physical body is placed in the grave; but the moment he dies, his soul separates from his body and immediately wakes up, consciously burning in hell and suffering the torments of the damned. (Luke 16:23) Then one day the judgment of the Great White Throne will take place. At this judgment, his body and soul will reunite and will face God's wrath. Revelation 20:14, 15 "And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." The Great White Throne Judgment does not determine whether a person goes to heaven or hell. That was decided before he died. Now it's too late. This judgment determines the degree to which he will suffer in the lake of fire, eternally separated from God. Once this is determined according to a person's evil works in the life that he lived, the Bible says both his body and his soul will be cast alive into the lake of fire to burn forever. This is the second death. Hebrews 9:27 "... it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." My friend, you must believe what God says about this awful judgment. A person does not go to hell for the number or severity of the sins he commits. A person goes to hell because he does not believe on Jesus Christ for his salvation. I do not mean that you are to believe simply that there is a God or that there is a Saviour. Devils believe that and tremble. (James 2:19) You can believe that a certain physician is a good doctor without calling him to be your doctor when you are sick. You can believe that a certain man is a good lawyer without taking him as your lawyer to defend your case. You are not just to believe the truth about Jesus. You are to believe on Him--that is depend upon Him, trust Him; and when you do, He will save you. God does not send anyone to hell. Men choose to go to hell by their own free will, by rejecting Jesus Christ and His shed blood for their payment of sins. John 3:18 "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God." John 3:36 "He that believe on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." II Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." My friend, God loves you and has provided a way for you to escape this eternal hell, but first you must believe God and see yourself as a lost, condemned sinner that needs a Saviour.
